ORDINANCE NO. BL2008-226
An ordinance approving a lease agreement between the Metropolitan Government and Square Investment Holdings, LP for space in the Washington Square Building located at 222 Second Avenue North.
WHEREAS, Square Investment Holdings, LP (“SIH”) owns a building commonly known as the Washington Square Building (the “Building”), located at 222 Second Avenue North in Nashville; and,
WHEREAS, the Building contains space suitable for offices; and,
WHEREAS, since 1993, the Metropolitan Government has leased space in the Building for the offices of the District Attorney; and,
WHEREAS, the lease will expire during the current calendar year; and,
WHEREAS, pursuant to the terms of the document (the “Lease”) attached as Exhibit 1 to this ordinance, SIH proposes to lease space in the Building for the continued use of the District Attorney’s offices and additional space for the Metropolitan Department of Law; and,
WHEREAS, approval of the Lease is in the best interests of the Metropolitan Government.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ENACTED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:
SECTION 1: The Lease (Exhibit 1) is hereby approved and the Director of Finance or his designee is authorized to execute it on behalf of the Metropolitan Government.
SECTION 2: This ordinance shall take effect from and after its final passage, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
