ORDINANCE NO. BL2008-176
An ordinance approving an increase in probation supervision fees.
WHEREAS, the cost to the Metropolitan Government of operating the General Sessions Court division of probation has increased since related fees were set by Ordinance No. 2006-1092; and,
WHEREAS, it is in the interest of the citizens of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County that these probation fees be increased to reflect the current cost of operating the General Sessions Court division of probation.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ENACTED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:
Section 1. That Section 2.56.135 of the Metropolitan Code of Laws shall be and the same is hereby amended by deleting “In order to partially defray the cost of operating the division of probation, the metropolitan general sessions judges are given authority to impose up to a twenty-dollar per month probation supervision fee on all defendants placed on probation by them.” and substituting therein, “In order to partially defray the cost of operating the division of probation, the metropolitan general sessions judges are given authority to impose up to a thirty-five dollar per month probation supervision fee on all defendants placed on probation by them.”
Section 2. That the above-referenced fee increase shall take effect beginning July 1, 2008.
Section 3. That this Ordinance shall take effect from after its final passage, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
