ORDINANCE NO. BL2007-1545

An ordinance amending Article 3 of the Metropolitan Code to require certain drivers of Metropolitan Government-owned vehicles to be CPR certified.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. That Article 3 of the Metropolitan Code is hereby amended by adding the following new Chapter 3.06:

CHAPTER 3.06 CPR CERTIFICATION REQUIRED FOR CERTAIN EMPLOYEES

3.06.010 CPR certification required for metropolitan government employees operating government motor vehicles.
A. All employees of the metropolitan government that operate motor vehicles owned by the metropolitan government for use in the scope of their employment shall maintain a valid cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certification at all times. Employees operating metropolitan government-owned motor vehicles at the time of enactment of this ordinance shall have one hundred eighty (180) days in which to obtain the required CPR certification.
B. CPR training classes and certification for metropolitan government employees operating government-owned motor vehicles shall be provided through the metropolitan government department of general services. The metropolitan department of general services shall have the authority to utilize the services of the metropolitan board of health to perform the CPR training or enter into a contract with an outside contractor to provide the CPR training services.
C. Notwithstanding the foregoing provisions of this section to the contrary, any employee of the metropolitan government that is physically unable to perform CPR shall be exempt from this requirement. Proof of physical inability shall be submitted to the department of general services in order to qualify for this exemption.

Section 2. That this Ordinance shall take effect from and after its final passage, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
