An ordinance approving a lease agreement between the Metropolitan Government and Belmont University concerning the development and shared use of Rose Park (Proposal No. 2007M-083U-10).

Whereas, the Metropolitan Government owns and through the Department of Parks and Recreation (“Department”) operates Rose Park; and

Whereas, pursuant to the document (the “Agreement”) attached as Exhibit A and incorporated herein by reference, Belmont University seeks to construct athletic facilities within Rose Park to be used by its sports teams and also to be made available for use by the public; and

Whereas, approval of the Agreement will improve the number and quality of recreational opportunities available to the citizens of the Metropolitan Government.

Now, therefore, be it enacted by the Council of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County:

Section 1. The Agreement attached to this ordinance as Exhibit A is approved, and the director of the Department of Parks and Recreation is authorized to execute it on behalf of the Metropolitan Government.

Section 2. This ordinance shall take effect from and after its passage, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.

Mr. President:

I move to amend Ordinance No. BL2007-1544 by replacing the Agreement referenced in Section 1 and designated as Exhibit A with the attached new Agreement.
