ORDINANCE NO. BL2007-1391

An Ordinance requiring Metropolitan Government departments, agencies, boards and commissions to respond to requests for information from Members of the Metropolitan Council within thirty days.

WHEREAS, Members of the Metropolitan Council have recently had difficulty receiving responses to requests for information from various Metropolitan Government departments; and

WHEREAS, in order to effectively represent the citizens of Nashville and Davidson County, and to make informed decisions regarding the operation of the Metropolitan Government, information requests of Metro departments made by Members of Council should be responded to in a timely manner.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ENACTED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. All Metropolitan Government boards, commissions, departments and agencies shall respond to requests for information made by Members of Council within thirty (30) days of the date the information request is received. If additional time is needed by a particular department, agency, board or commission to adequately provide the requested information, such department, agency, board or commission shall, within the thirty (30) day period, send a letter to the Member of Council requesting the information stating that additional time is needed and providing an estimate of when the requested information will be submitted to the Council.

Section 2. The Metropolitan Clerk is directed to send a copy of this Ordinance to the director of each Metropolitan Government department, agency, board or commission.

Section 3. This Ordinance shall take effect from and after its passage, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
