ORDINANCE NO. BL2007-1385

An ordinance amending Chapter 16.24 of the Metropolitan Code to prohibit exterior openings of buildings or structures from being boarded-up for more than sixty days.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. That Section 16.24.340 of the Metropolitan Code of Laws is hereby amended by adding the following new subsection U.:

"U. Boarding-up Exterior Openings. No exterior opening to a building or structure shall be boarded-up for more than sixty (60) days. After the expiration of the sixty day period, the property owner shall take the action necessary to bring all exterior openings up to the standards set forth in this chapter."

Section 2. That Section 16.24.590 of the Metropolitan Code of Laws is hereby amended by adding the following provision at the end of subsection 1.b.:
"Notwithstanding any other provision of this section to the contrary, exterior openings of a dwelling or structure shall not remain boarded-up for more than sixty (60) days."

Section 3. That this Ordinance shall take effect from and after its passage, the welfare of the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
