ORDINANCE NO. BL2007-1383

An ordinance amending Section 2.40.100 of the Metropolitan Code to further limit the authority of the Metropolitan Attorney to settle claims against the Metropolitan Government without approval of the Metropolitan Council.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. That Chapter 2.40 of the Metropolitan Code of Laws is hereby amended by deleting the provisions of Section 2.40.100 in their entirety and substituting in lieu thereof the following new provisions:

"The metropolitan attorney is authorized to settle any claim against the metropolitan government for an amount not in excess of one thousand dollars. The settlement of claims exceeding one thousand dollars shall be subject to approval of the metropolitan council by resolution."

Section 2. That this Ordinance shall take effect from and after its passage, the welfare of the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
