ORDINANCE NO. BL2006-1231

An ordinance amending Section 2.04.030 of the Metropolitan Code of Laws to give the full Council authority over the operation of the Metropolitan Council Office, and to make certain employees of the Council Office part of the classified service.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. That Section 2.04.030 of the Metropolitan Code of Laws be and the same is hereby amended as follows:

1. By deleting the provisions of subsection D. in their entirety and substituting in lieu thereof the following new subsection D.:

"D. The council shall have the authority, by resolution, to prepare plans for the organization of the office, to employ personnel, to secure suitable office space and supplies, to designate job specifications, and for such other matters as it may deem necessary and desirable for the orderly and efficient operation of the office."

2. By adding the following new subsection E.:

"E. All employees of the metropolitan council office, except for the director and the special assistant to the director, shall be in the classified service in accordance with the provisions of section 12.08 of the Metropolitan Charter."

Section 2. This Ordinance shall take effect from and after its passage, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
