ORDINANCE NO. BL2006-1175

An ordinance amending Title 15 of the Metropolitan Code of Laws to reduce residential sewer rates in an amount necessary to reduce the amount of revenue generated by the Department of Water and Sewerage Services by $5.2 million, all as more fully described herein.

WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Department of Water and Sewerage Services recently decided to modify their policy that provided an adjustment to the sewer bill for customers using additional water during the warm months for watering their lawns and gardens; and

WHEREAS, this change in policy is estimated to generate $5.2 million in revenue for the Department of Water and Sewerage Services; and

WHEREAS, the Council desires to reduce the sewer rates for residential customers to offset the $5.2 million to be generated by the elimination of the sprinkler adjustment.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. That Metropolitan Code of Laws Section 15.44.020 and Table 15.44.020 are hereby amended by reducing the minimum charges per month for residential customers in an amount necessary to reduce the amount of revenue to be generated by the Department of Water and Sewerage Services by $5,200,000.

Section 2. This Ordinance shall take effect from and after its passage, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
