ORDINANCE NO. BL2006-1066
An ordinance amending Section 16.04.090 of the Metropolitan Code of Laws to require property owners to obtain permit bonds for certain residential building construction and repairs.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:
Section 1. That Section 16.04.090 of the Metropolitan Code of Laws be and the same is hereby amended by deleting subsection A in its entirety and substituting in lieu thereof the following new subsection A.:
"A. Registration
and permit bonds.
1. It shall be the duty of every person who shall make contracts for the construction,
erection, alteration, repair, removal or demolition of any building or structure
or part thereof; or repair or replacement of any damage to a building or structure
caused by insects or natural disasters; or to erect or construct any sign, billboard
or similar structure, or to construct any public or private swimming pool; or
to do or perform any work for which a permit is required (and every such person,
making such contracts or subletting the same or any part thereof) to register
with the department of codes administration and to post a permit bond in the
amount set forth herein.
2. It shall be the duty of every owner of residential property that has been
granted more than two extensions pursuant to section 16.28.240 for a permit
to construct, erect, alter, or repair his/her residential building or structure,
or part thereof, to post a bond in the amount set forth herein."
Section 2. This Ordinance shall take effect from and after its passage, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
