ORDINANCE NO. BL2006-1017

An ordinance approving an agreement with the University of Massachusetts regarding services provided by the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department, and payment for same.

Whereas, the University of Massachusetts has requested that the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department provide certain reporting services for federally funded research purposes, and is willing to compensate the Metropolitan Government for the expenses of performing the same, including personnel costs; and,

Whereas, the amount of such compensation exceeds the rates set forth in Metropolitan Code of Laws Section 2.44.080; and,

Whereas, the Agreement between the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County and the University of Massachusetts, attached hereto, specifies the parties' respective benefits and obligations regarding provision of data services and payment for same; and,

Whereas, it is to the benefit of the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County that this Agreement be approved.

Now, therefore, be it enacted by the Council of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County:

Section 1. That the Agreement between The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County and the University of Massachusetts, attached hereto and incorporated herein, is hereby approved, and the Mayor is authorized to execute the same.

Section 2. That the funds received from the University of Massachusetts in accordance with the Agreement are hereby appropriated to the Police Department.

Section 3. That this Ordinance shall take effect from and after its final passage, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
