ORDINANCE NO. BL2005-770

An ordinance authorizing the Metropolitan Nashville Fire Department to accept donations by resolution adopted by the Metropolitan Council.

WHEREAS, §2.01 of the Metropolitan Charter provides that the Metropolitan Government has the power to accept or refuse gifts, donations, bequests or grants from any source for any purpose related to the powers and duties of the Metropolitan Government; and

WHEREAS, from time to time, various persons, entities or community groups desire to make a donation for the use and benefit of the Metropolitan Nashville Fire Department; and

WHEREAS, allowing such donations to be accepted by resolution of the Council rather than ordinance would expedite the acceptance of the donation and would consume less Council time.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ENACTED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. All donations and gifts made to the Metropolitan Nashville Fire Department may be accepted upon approval by the Council of a resolution accepting the donation for the use and benefit of the Metropolitan Nashville Fire Department.

Section 2. This ordinance shall take effect from and after its enactment, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County.
