ORDINANCE NO. BL2005-639

An Ordinance amending Chapter 2.64 of the Metropolitan Code of Laws to prohibit members of Metropolitan Government boards and commissions, other than those boards and commissions created by the Metropolitan Charter, from serving more than two consecutive terms.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ENACTED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. That Chapter 2.64 of the Metropolitan Code shall be and the same is hereby amended by adding the following new Section 2.64.060:

"2.64.060 Term limits for members of boards and commissions.

Notwithstanding any other provision of the metropolitan code of laws to the contrary, no member of any board or commission of the metropolitan government, other than those boards and commissions established by the Metropolitan Charter, shall be eligible to serve more than two (2) consecutive terms. The provisions of this section shall not operate to remove sitting members of boards and commissions at the time of the enactment of this ordinance, but such provisions shall apply upon the expiration of their current term."

Section 2. This Ordinance shall take effect from and after its passage, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
