ORDINANCE NO. BL2005-638

An Ordinance amending Section 2.108.020 of the Metropolitan Code of Laws to provide for the Health, Hospitals and Social Services Committee and the Personnel-Public Information-Human Relations-Housing Committee of the Metropolitan Council to each elect one of its members to serve on the Metropolitan Action Commission.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ENACTED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. That Section 2.108.020 of the Metropolitan Code shall be and the same is hereby amended as follows:

1. By deleting the phrase "the chairman of the health, hospitals and welfare committee of the metropolitan council, the chairman of the personnel, public information, human relations and housing committee of the metropolitan council", wherein it appears in subsection A., and substituting in lieu thereof the phrase "a member of the of the metropolitan council elected by such committee".

By deleting the sentence "The terms of the six public officials on the commission and the term of the president of the Head Start policy council of the metropolitan action commission shall be the same as the elected or appointive term of office.", wherein it appears in subsection A., and substituting in lieu thereof the following provisions:

"The terms of the public officials on the commission, other than the metropolitan council representatives, and the term of the president of the Head Start policy council of the metropolitan action commission shall be the same as the elected or appointive term of office. The two members of council serving on the commission shall have a term of two years. The election of the member of the health, hospitals and social services committee and the personnel-public information-human relations-housing committee to serve on the commission shall take place upon the expiration of term of the chairpersons of the committees presently serving on the commission at the date of enactment of the amendatory ordinance providing that such members be elected."

Section 2. This Ordinance shall take effect from and after its passage, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.

Mr. President:

I move to amend Ordinance No. BL2005-638 by deleting Section 1 in its entirety and substituting in lieu thereof the following new Section 1.:

Section 1. That Section 2.108.020 of the Metropolitan Code shall be and the same is hereby amended as follows:

1. By deleting the phrase "the chairman of the health, hospitals and welfare committee of the metropolitan council, the chairman of the personnel, public information, human relations and housing committee of the metropolitan council", wherein it appears in subsection A., and substituting in lieu thereof the phrase "a member of the health, hospitals and social services committee of the metropolitan council elected by such committee, a member of the personnel-public information-human relations-housing committee of the metropolitan council elected by such committee".

2. By deleting the sentence "The terms of the six public officials on the commission and the term of the president of the Head Start policy council of the metropolitan action commission shall be the same as the elected or appointive term of office.", wherein it appears in subsection A., and substituting in lieu thereof the following provisions:

"The terms of the public officials on the commission, other than the metropolitan council representatives, and the term of the president of the Head Start policy council of the metropolitan action commission shall be the same as the elected or appointive term of office. The two members of council serving on the commission shall have a term of two years. The election of the member of the health, hospitals and social services committee and the personnel-public information-human relations-housing committee to serve on the commission shall take place upon the expiration of term of the chairpersons of the committees presently serving on the commission at the date of enactment of the amendatory ordinance providing that such members be elected."
