ORDINANCE NO. BL2004-264

An ordinance authorizing the Mayor’s Office of Neighborhoods to accept cash and in-kind donations for the Spring Into Health Festival, so appropriating in-kind donations, and appropriating sponsorship money that has been received into the general fund for the purpose of underwriting the costs of the Spring Into Health Festival.

WHEREAS, the Mayor’s Office of Neighborhoods held its first Spring Into Health Festival on Saturday May 15, 2004; and

WHEREAS, the Spring Into Health Festival is a continuation of the Mayor’s Office of Neighborhoods’ “Celebrating Neighborhoods” initiative, and is designed to encourage Nashvillians to engage in healthy activities and to increase the capacity of the neighborhood groups and associations to address issues and concerns in their communities; and

WHEREAS, Vanderbilt University, McDonald’s, and Coca-Cola Corporation have made cash and in-kind donations to underwrite the costs of this initiative.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ENACTED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. That the Mayor’s Office of Neighborhoods is authorized to accept cash donations to underwrite the costs of the Spring Into Health Festival.

Section 2. That the Mayor’s Office of Neighborhoods is authorized to accept in-kind donations for use in support of the Spring Into Health Festival.

Section 3. That cash donations shall be appropriated to a fund for the Mayor’s Office of Neighborhoods to cover expenses related to the Spring Into Health Festival, as part of the “Celebrating Neighborhoods” initiative.

Section 4. That the following cash and in-kind donations shall be appropriated to the Office of Neighborhoods, for use in support of the Spring Into Health Festival, including covering the costs of the Festival.

Section 5. This ordinance shall take effect from and after its final passage, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
