ORDINANCE NO. BL2004-227

An ordinance amending Chapter 13.20 of the Metropolitan Code of Laws to require all persons engaged in excavation or paving work within the right-of-way of the Metropolitan Government to post two warning signs, one stating “Slow Down, My Daddy Works Here”, and one stating “Slow Down, My Mommy Works Here”.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ENACTED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. That Chapter 13.20 of the Metropolitan Code of Laws shall be and the same is hereby amended by adding the following new Section 13.20.105:

“13.20.105 Warning Signs.
Any person who shall dig or cause to be dug any excavation or cause obstruction to be placed in, on, under, across or adjoining any street, road or public way in connection with any excavation, construction, or paving project shall display two orange triangular signs, one with the wording “Slow Down, My Daddy Works Here”, and one with the wording “Slow Down, My Mommy Works Here”, posted in black letters visible to the motoring public.

Section 2. This ordinance shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.

Mr. President:

I move to amend Bill No. BL2004-227 by deleting the word "Mommy" where it appears in the Caption and Section One and substituting the word "Mother".
