ORDINANCE NO. BL2004-125
An ordinance naming the new North Police Precinct Station as the "William David Bodenhamer Building".
WHEREAS, construction of the new North Police Precinct building at 2221 26th Avenue North is nearing completion and is expected to be in full operation in February 2004; and
WHEREAS, Section 13.26.010 of the Metropolitan Code of Laws provides that no building of the Metropolitan Government may be named except pursuant to an ordinance duly adopted by the Metropolitan Council; and
WHEREAS, William David Bodenhamer served as a police officer in Nashville from 1956 until his retirement in 1990; and
WHEREAS, William David Bodenhamer was promoted to Sergeant in 1966, to Lieutenant in 1973, and to Captain in 1976; and
WHEREAS, Captain Bodenhamer served the city of Nashville with distinction, receiving numerous awards and accolades for his service such as two Odd Fellows Awards, the National Association of Negro Business and Professional Women's Club, Inc., Special Merit Award, the Community Service and Attainment Award, and the Community Relations Officer of the Year Ward; and
WHEREAS, Captain Bodenhamer was an integral part of several innovative programs within the police department, such as the Youth Aid Bureau and the Community Relations Division; and
WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the North Police Precinct Station be named in honor of Captain Bodenhamer's distinguished service.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ENACTED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:
Section 1. That the North Police Precinct Station located at 2221 26th Avenue North be and the same is hereby named the "William David Bodenhamer Building".
Section 2. The biographical information for William David Bodenhamer is attached hereto and incorporated herein by reference in accordance with Section 13.26.020 of the Metropolitan Code of Laws.
Section 3.This Ordinance shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
