ORDINANCE NO. BL2003-11


An ordinance amending the Metropolitan Code of Laws to designate responsibility to the Metropolitan Board of Parks and Recreation to approve markers and stones, prior to installation, in the cemeteries owned by the Metropolitan Government to ensure that they are in keeping with the historic nature of the cemetery.


BE IT ENACTED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. That Section 13.24.050 of the Metropolitan Code of Laws is hereby amended by adding the following provision at the end thereof:

“The board shall also have the responsibility of approving, prior to installation, any new markers, stones, or any other similar type structures to be placed in said cemeteries. Such approval shall be based on the appropriateness of the structure in keeping with the historic nature of the cemetery.”

Section 2. This Ordinance shall take effect from and after its enactment, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
