ORDINANCE NO. BL99-71

An ordinance approving a grant from the U.S. Department of Justice, Bureau of Justice Assistance to The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting through the Metropolitan Police Department for the Bulletproof Vest Partnership Grant.

Whereas, the U.S. Department of Justice, Bureau of Justice Assistance, has awarded a paperless, electronic grant in an amount not to exceed twenty one thousand dollars ($21,000) to The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting through the Metropolitan Police Department for the Bulletproof Partnership Grant ; and,

Whereas, it is to the benefit of the citizens of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County that this grant be accepted.

Now, therefore, be it enacted by the Council of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County:

Section 1: That the paperless, electronic grant between the U.S. Department of Justice, Bureau of Justice Assistance and The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting through the Metropolitan Police Department for the Bulletproof Partnership Grant, a copy of the program description and grant approval letter is attached hereto and incorporated herein, is hereby approved.

Section 2: That the sum of twenty one thousand dollars ($21,000) be provided for the purpose of providing the Metropolitan Government’s share for the program.

Section 3: That amendments to the grant contract referenced herein shall be approved by resolution of the Metropolitan Council receiving twenty-one affirmative votes.

Section 4: That this Ordinance shall take effect from and after its passage, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
