ORDINANCE NO. BL99-53

An ordinance approving a grant in an amount not to exceed $149,355 from the State of Tennessee, Department of Finance and Administration to The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting through the State Trial Courts for a Spanish interpreter.

Whereas, the State of Tennessee, Department of Finance and Administration, has awarded Grant No. 98DG140 for a term of July 1, 1999 to June 30, 2003, in an amount not to exceed one hundred forty nine thousand three hundred fifty five dollars ($149,355) to The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting through the State Trial Courts for a Spanish interpreter; and

Whereas, it is to the benefit of the citizens of the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County that this grant be accepted.

Now, therefore, be it enacted by the Council of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County:

Section 1. That the grant by and between the State of Tennessee, Department of Finance and Administration, for a term of July 1, 1999 to June 30, 2003, in an amount not to exceed one hundred forty nine thousand three hundred fifty five dollars ($149,355) to The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting through the State Trial Courts for a Spanish interpreter, a copy of which is attached hereto and incorporated herein, is hereby approved, and the Metropolitan County Mayor is authorized to execute the same.

Section 2. That the sum of twelve thousand nine hundred seventy six dollars ($12,976) be provided for the purpose of providing the Metropolitan Government’s matching share for the program for fiscal year 1999/2000.

Section 3. Any amendments to this grant may be approved by a resolution of the Metropolitan Council, which receives at least twenty-one affirmative votes.

Section 4. That this Ordinance shall take effect from and after its final passage, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
