ORDINANCE NO. BL2002-991

An ordinance approving a lease agreement by and between The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting by and through the Nashville Career Advancement Center and Opry Mills for office space for the Pearl Sims Learning and Development Center.

Whereas, The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting by and through the Nashville Career Advancement Center, is in need of space in order to provide career development and advancement services to area residents; and

Whereas, the Nashville Career Advancement Center has negotiated a Lease Agreement of space with Opry Mills to house the Pearl Sims Learning and Development Center, a copy of which is attached hereto; and

Whereas, the lease is for a period of ten (10) years commencing May 1, 2000 and ending April 30, 2010 for the sum of one dollar ($1.00) per year; and

Whereas, it is deemed to be in the best interest of the Metropolitan Government to approve said Lease Agreement.

Now, therefore, be it enacted by the Council of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County:

Section 1: That this Lease agreement with The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting through the Nashville Career Advancement Center and Opry Mills to provide career development and advancement services to area residents, through the Pearl Sims Learning and Development Center, for a term of ten (10) years at a cost of one dollar ($1.00) per year, a copy of which is attached hereto, is hereby approved.

Section 2: That any amendments to this Lease Agreement shall be approved by resolution of the Metropolitan Council receiving twenty one affirmative votes.

Section 3: That this Ordinance shall take effect from and after its passage, the welfare of the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
