ORDINANCE NO. BL2002-1176

An ordinance accepting a grant from the State of Tennessee, Department of Military, Tennessee Emergency Management Agency to The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County in an amount not to exceed $200,000 to purchase personnel protective and detection equipment for emergency first responders to a weapons of mass destruction incident.

Whereas, the State of Tennessee, Department of Military, Tennessee Emergency Management Agency has awarded a grant in an amount not to exceed two hundred thousand dollars ($200,000) to The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County to purchase personnel protective and detection equipment for emergency first responders to a weapons of mass destruction incident; and

Whereas, it is to benefit the citizens of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County that this grant be accepted.

Now, therefore be it enacted by the Council of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County:

Section 1: That the grant by and between the State of Tennessee, Department of Military, Tennessee Emergency Management Agency in an amount not to exceed two hundred thousand dollars ($200,000) to The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County to purchase personnel protective and detection equipment for emergency first responders to a weapons of mass destruction incident, a copy of which is attached hereto and incorporated herein, is hereby approved, and the Metropolitan Mayor is authorized to execute the same.

Section 2. That any amendments to this grant may be approved by a resolution of the Metropolitan Council that receives at least twenty-one affirmative votes.

Section 3. That this ordinance shall take effect from and after its passage, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
