ORDINANCE NO. BL2002-1140


An ordinance approving and authorizing the Metropolitan Mayor to execute a license agreement with the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers relating to the use of musical compositions in the ASCAP repertory at Metropolitan Government facilities.


Whereas, pursuant to the terms of the license agreement (the “Agreement”) attached to this ordinance as Exhibit A, the American Society of Composers, Authors and Pubishers (“ASCAP”) proposes to grant to the Metropolitan Government a non-exclusive license to allow the public performance at Metropolitan Government facilities of certain musical compositions in the ASCAP repertory; and

Whereas, approval of the Agreement will benefit the citizens of Davidson County.

Now, therefore, be it enacted by the Council of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County:

Section 1: That the Metropolitan Mayor is hereby authorized to execute the attached Agreement between The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County and the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers.

Section 2: That any amendments, renewals or extension of the terms of the Agreement must be approved by resolution of the Metropolitan Council.

Section 3: That this Ordinance shall take effect from and after its passage, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
