ORDINANCE NO. BL2002-1137

An ordinance approving a grant in an amount not to exceed $360,000 from the United States Department of Justice to the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting through the 20th Judicial District Attorney General's Office for the Community Gun Violence Prosecution Program.

Whereas, the United States Department of Justice, has awarded a grant for a term of October 1, 2001 to September 30, 2004, in an amount not to exceed three hundred sixty thousand dollars ($360,000) to The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting through the 20th Judicial District Attorney General's Office for Community Gun Violence Prosecution Program; and
Whereas, it is to the benefit of the citizens of the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County that this grant be accepted.
Now, therefore, be it enacted by the Council of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County:
Section 1. That the grant by and between the United States Department of Justice, for a term of October 1, 2001 to September 30, 2004, in an amount not to exceed three hundred sixty thousand dollars ($360,000) to The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting through the 20th Judicial District Attorney General's Office for the Community Gun Violence Prosecution Program, a copy of which is attached hereto and incorporated herein, is hereby approved, and the Metropolitan County Mayor is authorized to execute the same.
Section 2. That the sum of forty thousand dollars ($40,000) be provided the first and second years and ten thousand dollars ($10,000) be provided the third year for the purpose of providing the Metropolitan Government’s in kind matching share for the program.
Section 3. Any amendments to this grant may be approved by a resolution of the Metropolitan Council, which receives at least twenty-one affirmative votes.
Section 4. That this Ordinance shall take effect from and after its final passage, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
