ORDINANCE NO. BL2002-1042

An ordinance authorizing submission of an application for and acceptance of a grant from the United States Environmental Protection Agency to the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting through the Metropolitan Department of Water and Sewerage Services for Security Planning for Large Drinking Water Utilities for FY 2002-2003

WHEREAS, the U. S. Environmental Protection Agency has invited the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting through the Metropolitan Department of Water and Sewerage Services to apply for a grant in the amount not to exceed One Hundred Fifteen Thousand dollars ($115,000) for Security Planning for Large Drinking Water Utilities; and

WHEREAS, the Department of Water and Sewerage Services will submit by April 29, 2002, an application to the United States Environmental Protection Agency concerning this grant application; and

WHEREAS, the grant application requires approval by the municipality's governing body; and

WHEREAS, it is to the benefit of the citizens of the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County that this application for Security Planning for Large Drinking Water Utilities be approved.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ENACTED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

SECTION 1: That the Metropolitan Mayor, acting through the Metropolitan Department of Water and Sewerage Services, is authorized to execute and process all documents necessary to apply for and receive a grant from the United States Environmental Protection Agency in accordance with the attached application for Federal assistance.

SECTION 2: The application for the grant from the United States Environmental Protection Agency shall be for an amount not to exceed one hundred fifteen thousand dollars ($115,000) for Security Planning for Large Drinking Water Utilities. A copy of the application packet will be filed in the Metropolitan Clerk's office when submitted for funding.

SECTION 3: That any amendments to this grant application or grant award shall be approved by resolution of the Metropolitan Council.

SECTION 4: That this Ordinance shall take effect from and after its final passage, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
