An ordinance approving a grant from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting through the State Trial Courts for the treatment of the mentally ill and drug abusers processed through the drug court.

Whereas, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, has awarded a grant in an amount not to exceed four hundred ninety nine thousand nine hundred ninety five dollars ($499,995) to The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting through the State Trial Courts for the treatment of the mentally ill and drug abusers who are processed through the drug court; and,

Whereas, it is to the benefit of the citizens of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County that this grant be accepted.

Now, therefore, be it enacted by the Council of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County:

Section 1: That the grant from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting by and through the State Trial Courts for the treatment of the mentally ill and drug abusers who are processed through the drug court, for a term of September 30, 2001 through September 29, 2004 and in an amount not to exceed four hundred ninety nine thousand nine hundred ninety five dollars ($499,995) for year 2001-2002; four hundred ninety four thousand eight hundred eighteen dollars ($494,818) for years 2002-2003 and 2003-2004, a copy of which is attached hereto and incorporated herein, is hereby approved.

Section 2: That amendments to the grant referenced herein shall be approved by resolution of the Metropolitan Council receiving twenty-one affirmative votes.

Section 3: That this Ordinance shall take effect from and after its passage, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
