ORDINANCE NO. BL2001-887
An ordinance authorizing the Mayor's Office of Neighborhoods to accept cash donations and to appropriate sponsorship money that has been received into the general fund for the purpose of underwriting the cost of the "Celebrating Neighborhoods" conference that was held November 3, 2001.
Whereas, the Mayor's Office of Neighborhoods held their first "Celebrating Neighborhoods" conference on Saturday November 3, 2001; and
Whereas, the goal of the "Celebrating Neighborhoods" conference is to increase the capacity of the neighborhood groups and associations to address issues and concerns in their communities; and
Whereas, BellSouth, Nashville Electric Service, Vanderbilt University and the Vanderbilt Institute for Public Policy Studies' Child and Family Policy Center have agreed to help underwrite the costs of the "Celebrating Neighborhoods" conference through cash donations totaling $16,000.
Now, therefore, be it enacted by the Council of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County:
Section 1: That the Mayor's
Office of Neighborhoods is authorized to accept cash donations to underwrite
the costs of the "Celebrating Neighborhoods" conference.
Section 2: That the cash donations pledged by BellSouth, Nashville Electric
Service, Vanderbilt University, and totaling $15,000, when received, shall be
appropriated to a fund for the Mayor's Office of Neighborhoods to cover expenses
related to the "Celebrating Neighborhoods" conference.
Section 3: That the "Celebrating
Neighborhoods" conference costs were offset by $1000 as a result of a payment
by the Vanderbilt Institute for Public Policy Studies' Child and Family Policy
Center.
Section 4: That the following pledged cash donations, when received, shall be
appropriated to the Office of Neighborhoods:

Section 5: This ordinance shall take effect from and after its passage, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
