ORDINANCE NO. BL2001-880

An ordinance authorizing the Police Department of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County to enter into an agreement for the purchase of two Tennessee Walking Horses and various equipment from the City of Huntsville, Alabama.

Whereas, the Metropolitan Police Department has established a Mounted Patrol Unit; and

Whereas, the City of Huntsville, Alabama desires to sell two Tennessee Walking Horses and various equipment of a value in excess of twenty thousand dollars ($20,000) to the Metropolitan Government for the nominal sum of one dollar ($1); and

Whereas, the City of Huntsville, Alabama has passed an ordinance authorizing the sale of these two Tennessee Walking Horses and equipment for the nominal sum of one dollar ($1); and

Whereas, the Metropolitan Police Department has a need for the horses and equipment to be purchased; and

Whereas, it is deemed to be in the best interest of the Metropolitan Government to authorize the purchase of the horses and equipment.

Now, therefore, be it enacted by the Council of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, that:

Section 1. The Police Department of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County is hereby authorized to enter into an agreement on behalf of the Metropolitan Government for the purchase of the two Tennessee Walking Horses listed below and various equipment with a value in excess of twenty thousand dollars ($20,000) for the sum of one dollar ($1).

Section 2. The Metropolitan Police Department is authorized to pay the City of Huntsville, Alabama the sum of one dollar ($1) in the execution of that agreement.

Section 3. This ordinance shall take effect from and after its passage, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
