ORDINANCE NO. BL2001-782
An ordinance approving a lease agreement by and between The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, and the Sheriff's Project for Organized Recreation and Team Sports.
Whereas, the Sheriff's Project for Organized Recreation and Team Sports (hereinafter "S.P.O.R.T.S") is a not-for-profit service organization devoted to the development of sports programs for children in Nashville and Davidson County; and,
Whereas, S.P.O.R.T.S raises money for its charitable donations by parking cars during Tennessee Titans football games and Fan Fair; and,
Whereas The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County owns the property commonly known as the Davidson County Sheriff's Office Training Academy, 710 S. 5th Street, (hereinafter "Training Academy"); and,
Whereas, a lease agreement that allows S.P.O.R.T.S to use the Training Academy parking lot for charitable fundraising during Tennessee Titans football games and Fan Fair has been negotiated, a copy of which is attached hereto and incorporated herein; and,
Whereas, the Metropolitan Charter grants the Director of Public Property the authority to lease public property; and,
Whereas, it is therefore proper for the Metropolitan Council to approve the lease as provided in Section 2.24.210 of the Metropolitan Code; and,
Whereas, the lease agreement between The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County and S.P.O.R.T.S is in the public interest.
Now, therefore, be it enacted by the Council of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County:
Section 1. That the lease of the premises located at the Davidson County Sheriff's Office Training Academy, 710 S. 5th Street, by and between The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County and the Sheriff's Project for Organized Recreation and Team Sports for a term of one (1) year, be and the same is hereby approved and the Director of Public Property is hereby authorized to execute said lease.
Section 2. That this ordinance shall take effect from and after its final passage, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
