ORDINANCE NO. BL2001-644

An ordinance authorizing the Library Board to keep a portion of the fees generated from rental charges for use of the facilities at the Main Library, for the purpose of maintaining and operating these facilities.


Whereas, the new Main Library building of the Public Library of Nashville and Davidson County has several conference center facilities open for use by the public, including Meeting Rooms, an Art Gallery and an Auditorium; and

Whereas, these facilities are available for rent, pursuant to a fee schedule approved by the Library Board; and

Whereas, it is to the benefit of the citizens of the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County to keep these facilities maintained properly.

Now therefore, be it enacted by the Council of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County:

Section 1. That the Library Board shall keep a percentage of the fees generated through rental charges for use of its conference center facilities at the Main Library. This percentage shall be determined by the Library Board and approved by the Director of Finance. This fund shall be used solely for the maintenance and upkeep of these facilities.

Section 2. Any amendments to this ordinance may be approved by resolution of the Metropolitan Council, which receives at least twenty-one (21) affirmative votes.

Section 3. This ordinance shall take effect from and after its passage, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.

AMENDMENT NO. 1

TO

ORDINANCE NO. BL2001-644


Mr. President:

I move to amend Ordinance No. BL2001-644 as follows:

By adding the following new Section 3:

"SECTION 3. The provisions contained in Sections 1 and 2 hereof shall from and after June 30, 2003, be of no effect and are hereby repealed."

And by renumbering the present Section 3 to become Section 4.
