ORDINANCE NO. BL2001-610

An ordinance accepting grants from The Frist Foundation, The Memorial Foundation, Inc., The HCA Foundation, the Nashville Predators Foundation, the Afficus Trust, the Purity Foundation, and The Community Foundation in the total amount of $196,100.00 to provide funding for a performance audit of the Metropolitan Board of Public Education.

Whereas, the Metropolitan Government's Department of Finance is in the process of conducting a performance audit of the Metropolitan Board of Public Education through a private contractor; and

Whereas, the Metropolitan Board of Public Education is in agreement that a performance audit would be beneficial to its operations; and

Whereas, The Frist Foundation, The Memorial Foundation, Inc., The HCA foundation, the Nashville Predators Foundation, the Afficus Trust, the Purity Foundation, and The Community Foundation have all agreed to help underwrite the costs of the performance audit by grants in the total combined amount of $196,100.00 to the Metropolitan Government for the benefit of the Metropolitan Nashville Public Schools; and,
Whereas, the grant from The Memorial Foundation, Inc. is in the form of a written agreement and the other six grants were made without written agreements.
Now, therefore, be it enacted by the Council of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County.
Section 1. That the grant of $50,000.00 from The Memorial Foundation, Inc. to The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County for the benefit of the Metropolitan Nashville Public Schools to help fund a performance audit of the Metropolitan Board of Public Education, and for a term beginning on November 30, 2000 and extending through November 30, 2001, which grant is attached hereto and made a part of this Ordinance, be and the same is hereby approved, and the Director of the Metropolitan Department of Finance is authorized to execute said grant.
Section 2. That any amendment to the grant approved herein may be approved by resolution of the Metropolitan Council receiving twenty-one (21) votes.
Section 3. That the following grants to The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County for the benefit of the Metropolitan Nashville Public Schools by providing funding for a performance audit of the Metropolitan Board of Public Education, are hereby accepted:

Section 4. That this ordinance shall take effect from and after its passage, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
