ORDINANCE NO. BL2001-584

An ordinance approving a contract by and between the State of Tennessee, Administrative Office of the Courts ("AOC"), and The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, for and on behalf of the Twentieth Judicial District Trial Courts, for the performance of professional services needed for carrying out the activities of the Divorce Education and Mediation Pilot Project of the Twentieth Judicial District, for reimbursement by the State of Tennessee to the Metropolitan Government in an amount not to exceed $10,000 for the performance of said services.

Whereas, there are funds available from the State of Tennessee, Administrative Office of the Courts, for the provision of professional services needed to carry out the activities of the Divorce Education and Mediation Pilot Project of the Twentieth Judicial District for Nashville, Davidson County, Tennessee; and,

Whereas, the State of Tennessee and The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County have entered into a contract for the implementation of said Divorce Education and Mediation Pilot Project which will provide professional services in cases of disputed custody or visitation for individuals and/or families who are indigent or cannot meet the financial obligations required to obtain such services; and,

Whereas, the State of Tennessee will provide payment to the Metropolitan Government for units of service for the mediation, educational or psychological services in the amount of $75.00 per hour and in a total amount not to exceed $10,000.00; and,

Whereas, it is to the benefit of the citizens of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County that this contract be accepted.

Now, therefore, be it enacted by the Council of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County:

Section 1. That the contract by and between The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County and the State of Tennessee, Administrative Office of the Courts, for the performance of professional services needed for carrying out the activities of the Divorce Education and Mediation Pilot Project of the Twentieth Judicial District in an amount not to exceed $10,000.00 and for a term beginning on September 2, 2000 and continuing through June 30, 2001, be and the same is hereby approved and the Metropolitan Mayor is authorized to execute said contract.

Section 2. That this Ordinance shall take effect from and after its enactment, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
