ORDINANCE NO. BL2000-564
An ordinance authorizing the Metropolitan Mayor to execute an Interagency Memorandum of Understanding with the Nashville Electric Service for the Department of Water and Sewerage Services to purchase electrical power facilities at the K. R. Harrington Water Treatment Plant.
WHEREAS, the Nashville Electric Service (NES) owns existing electric equipment serving the K. R. Harrington Water Treatment Plant; and
WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Department of Water and Sewerage Services (MWSS) is working to reduce the cost of electrical power to operate its water and wastewater facilities in Davidson, Wilson and Williamson Counties; and
WHEREAS, NES, Tennessee Valley Authority and MWSS have initiated a Variable Price Interruptible Power Product which provides large power users an opportunity to obtain a lower power cost.
WHEREAS, NES has offered MWSS the opportunity to purchase its electric facilities at K. R. Harrington Water Treatment Plant, removing the monthly facility rental charge.
WHEREAS, Project No. 01-WG-7F, Purchase of Electric Transformers at K. R. Harrington WTP, has been funded under Capital Improvements Budget No. 99WC0009.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ENACTED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:
Section 1: That the Metropolitan Mayor or his designee is hereby authorized to execute the Interagency Memorandum of Understanding for sale of NES facilities in substantially the form of Exhibit A after prior approval by the directors of MWSS, Finance and Law.
Section 2: That this ordinance shall take effect from and after its final passage, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
