ORDINANCE NO. BL2000-520

An ordinance authorizing a grant in an amount not to exceed five hundred forty-nine thousand one hundred and seventy four dollars ($549,174) between the State of Tennessee, Department of State, and the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting through the Public Library, to provide general library service, library service for the hearing impaired, radio reading service for the blind, and materials for the disadvantaged.

Whereas, the State of Tennessee, Department of State has awarded a grant for the term of July 1, 2000, to June 30, 2001, in an amount not to exceed five hundred forty-nine thousand one hundred and seventy four dollars ($549,174) to the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting through the Public Library to provide general library service, library service for the hearing impaired, radio reading service for the blind, and materials for the disadvantaged.

Whereas, it is to the benefit of the citizens of the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County to accept this grant.

Now therefore, be it enacted by the Council of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County:

Section 1. That the grant by and between the State of Tennessee, Department of State, for the term of July 1, 2000 to June 30, 2001, in an amount not to exceed five hundred forty-nine thousand one hundred and seventy four dollars ($549,174) to provide general library service, library service for the hearing impaired, radio reading service for the blind, and materials for the disadvantaged, a copy of which is attached hereto and incorporated herein, is hereby approved, and the Metropolitan County Mayor is authorized to execute the same.

Section 2. Any amendments to this grant may be approved by resolution of the Metropolitan Council, which receives at least twenty-one affirmative votes.

Section 3. This ordinance shall take effect from and after its passage, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
