SUBSTITUTE ORDINANCE NO. SO98-1329

A substitute ordinance accepting a grant from the State of Tennessee, Department of Military, Tennessee Emergency Management Agency in the amount of $6,847,758.50, to The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, for the provision of disaster assistance.

WHEREAS, the State of Tennessee, Department of Military, Tennessee Emergency Management Agency has awarded a grant in an amount not to exceed six million eight hundred forty-seven thousand, seven hundred fifty-eight dollars and fifty cents ($6,847,758.50) to The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, for expenses related to the tornado of April 16, 1998; and

WHEREAS, it is to benefit the citizens of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County that this grant be accepted.

Now, therefore be it enacted by the Council of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County:

Section 1: That the grant by and between the State of Tennessee, Department of Military, Tennessee Emergency Management Agency in an amount not to exceed six million eight hundred forty-seven thousand, seven hundred fifty-eight dollars and fifty cents ($6,847,758.50) to The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, a copy of which is attached hereto and incorporated herein as is hereby approved, and the Metropolitan Mayor is authorized to execute the same.

Section 2: That approval of said grant be subject to the execution of an amendment thereto removing DSR 03708 in the amount of twenty four thousand six hundred thirty five dollars ($24,635.00), DSR 03737 in the amount of one hundred seventy-five thousand two hundred seventy four dollars ($175,274.00) and DSR 03738 in the amount of six thousand four hundred thirty eight ($6,438.00) reducing the total grant by two hundred six thousand three hundred forty seven dollars ($206,347.00) pending the outcome of Metropolitan Governments appeal to the Federal Emergency Management Agency.

Section 3: That the Metropolitan Mayor is hereby authorized to execute said amendment.

Section 4: That any additional amendments to this grant shall be approved by resolution of the Metropolitan Council with twenty-one affirmative votes.

Section 4: That this Ordinance shall take effect from and after its passage, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
