ORDINANCE NO. O99-1692

An ordinance approving a contract by and between the State of Tennessee, Department of Safety and the Davidson County Clerk's Office for issuance of Tennessee certificates of title for reimbursement in an amount not to exceed $1,350,000.

Whereas, Tennessee Code Annotated § 55-4-101, et seq. authorizes the State of Tennessee to contract with county clerks for issuance of Tennessee certificates of titles for automobiles; and

Whereas, the Tennessee Department of Safety has offered to enter into a contract for issuance of Tennessee certificates of title with the Davidson County Clerk's Office; and

Whereas, it is in the best interest of the Metropolitan Government to enter into the contract with the Tennessee Department of Safety.

Now, therefore, be it enacted by the Council of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County:

Section 1. That the contract by and between the Davidson County Clerk's Office and the State of Tennessee, Department of Safety for issuance of Tennessee vehicle certificates of title at reimbursement of two dollars ($2) per transaction with total liability not to exceed $1,350,000 over the term which begins on July 1, 1999 and ends on June 30, 2002, which contract is attached hereto and is hereby approved.

Section 2. That this ordinance shall take from and after its passage, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
