ORDINANCE NO. O99-1579

An ordinance approving an agreement between the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms and The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County for the reimbursement of overtime costs not to exceed $13,000.00 per officer up to a maximum of $39,000.00 and authorizing approval of future amendments to the agreement by resolution.

Whereas, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms of the United States Department of Treasury has the need for the assistance of local law enforcement personnel while conducting operations in the Metropolitan area; and

Whereas, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms has agreed to reimburse the overtime costs of providing such assistance in the amount of thirteen thousand dollars ($ 13,000.00) per officer up to a maximum of thirty-nine thousand dollars ($ 39,000.00); and

Whereas, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms and The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, Department of Police, have reached agreement for the provision of such assistance and for the reimbursement of the overtime costs in providing that assistance; and

Whereas, it is deemed in the best interest of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County and its citizens to provide assistance to federal agencies and that the costs or providing such assistance be reimbursed.

Now, Therefore, Be It Enacted By The Council Of The Metropolitan Government Of Nashville And Davidson County:

Section 1. That the agreement between the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms and The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, providing for law enforcement assistance to the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms by the Metropolitan Police Department, and for the reimbursement of the Metropolitan Police Department by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms for the overtime costs of providing such assistance during the fiscal year 1998-1999, in the amount of thirteen thousand dollars ($ 13,000.00) per officer to a maximum of thirty-nine thousand dollars ($ 39,000.00), is hereby approved. Future amendments to this Agreement may be approved by resolution.

Section 2. That this Ordinance shall take effect from and after its passage, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
