ORDINANCE NO. O98-1493
An ordinance approving a memorandum of agreement between the Metropolitan Development and Housing Agency and The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting by and through the Metropolitan Police Department and Metropolitan Finance Department for the establishment of a special task force to service MDHA properties.
Whereas, Metropolitan Development and Housing Agency ("MDHA") is the recipient of federal funds to enhance existing law enforcement activities at any and all MDHA properties by using Metropolitan Police Officers; and
Whereas, Metropolitan Police Department has confirmed an increase in drug-related crimes in the MDHA properties area; and
Whereas, MDHA desires to reduce drug-related crime at its MDHA properties area; and
Whereas, the parties have entered a memorandum of understanding to establish a special task force to be made up of police officers to service such MDHA properties.
Now therefore, be it enacted by the Council of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County:
Section 1. That the memorandum of agreement by and between MDHA and The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting through the Metropolitan Police Department for the establishment of a special task force of police officers to service the MDHA properties, a copy of which is attached hereto is hereby approved.
Section 2. That any amendments to this memorandum of agreement shall be approved by resolution of the Metropolitan Council receiving twenty-one affirmative votes.
Section 3. That this Ordinance shall take effect from and after its final passage, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
