ORDINANCE NO. O98-1476

An ordinance approving the acceptance of a grant from the U.S. Department of Justice to The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting through the Department of Metropolitan Police for the on-line education resources and support for law enforcement families.

Whereas, the United States Department of Justice, has awarded Grant No. 98 FSUX0004 in an amount not to exceed ninety-nine thousand five hundred fifty nine dollars ($99,559) to the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting through the Metropolitan Police Department for the on-line education resources and support for law enforcement families program; and

Whereas, it is to the benefit of the citizens of the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County that this grant be accepted.

Now, therefore, be it enacted by the Council of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County:

Section 1. That the grant from the United States Department of Justice to The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting through the Metropolitan Police Department, in an amount not to exceed ninety-nine thousand five hundred fifty nine dollars ($99,559), a copy of which is attached hereto and incorporated herein, is accepted, and the Metropolitan County Mayor is authorized to execute the contract documents.

Section 2. That the sum of one hundred seven thousand nine hundred ten dollars ($107,910) be provided for the purpose of providing the Metropolitan Government’s share of in kind matching funds for the program.

Section 3. That any amendments to this grant shall be approved by resolution of the Metropolitan Council receiving twenty-one affirmative votes.

Section 4. That this Ordinance shall take effect from and after its passage, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
