ORDINANCE NO. O98-1432

An ordinance approving a grant agreement between the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County and the State of Tennessee, Department of Transportation, for an automated collision database and analysis system project.

WHEREAS, at the present time the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County does not have an effective computerized collision analysis system; and,

WHEREAS, development of such a system would assist in correlating collision statistics to traffic controls, enforcement activities and needed traffic safety improvements; and,

WHEREAS, the State of Tennessee, Department of Transportation has available grant funds in an amount not to exceed $188,000 to enable the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County to undertake development of such a database,

NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ENACTED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. The grant agreement attached hereto an Exhibit 1 is hereby approved and the Metropolitan Mayor is authorized to execute said agreement. Future amendments to the grant agreement and any other contracts or agreements related to development of the automated collision database and analysis system project, shall require the approval of the Metropolitan Council by Resolution.

Section 2. This Ordinance shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
