ORDINANCE NO. O98-1422

An ordinance approving a drug control and systems improvement grant contract for the Metropolitan Office of the Public Defender (Women’s Center Outpatient Treatment Program) with the State of Tennessee, Department of Finance and Administration and accepting a donation from Cumberland Heights in the amount of $35,536.00.

Whereas, the State of Tennessee, Department of Finance and Administration, has awarded a grant contract in an amount not to exceed one hundred six thousand six hundred nine dollars ($106,609.00) for the drug control and drug control systems improvement Women’s Center Outpatient Treatment Program administered by the Metropolitan Office of the Public Defender; and,

Whereas, Cumberland Heights has offered to donate to the Metropolitan Government the sum of thirty five thousand five hundred thirty six dollars ($35,536.00) to be used as matching funds for the grant contract; and,

Whereas, it is to the benefit of the citizens of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County that this grant be accepted;

Now, therefore, be it enacted by the Council of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County:

Section 1: That the grant contract between the State of Tennessee and The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County for the drug control and drug control systems improvement Women’s Center Outpatient Treatment Program (Grant Number 99DG085) administered by the Metropolitan Office of the Public Defender, from July 1, 1998 to June 30, 1999, a copy of which is attached hereto and incorporated herein, is hereby approved, and the Metropolitan Mayor is authorized to execute the same.

Section 2: That donation of thirty five thousand five hundred thirty six dollars ($35,536.00) from Cumberland Heights is hereby accepted and shall be used as matching funds for the grant contract referenced herein

Section 3: That amendments to the grant contract referenced herein shall be approved by resolution of the Metropolitan Council receiving twenty-one affirmative votes.

Section 4: That this Ordinance shall take effect from and after its passage, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
