ENACTED 11/17/1998

An ordinance approving a grant contract from the State of Tennessee, Department of Finance and Administration to The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting by and through the Metropolitan Police Department for the provisions of services to victims of violent crimes.

Whereas, the State of Tennessee, Department of Finance and Administration, has awarded a grant contract in an amount not to exceed one hundred six thousand dollars ($106,000.00) for the provision of services to victims of violent crimes by the Metropolitan Police Department; and,

Whereas, the Metropolitan Government is required under said grant contract to provide matching funds in the amount of twenty six thousand five hundred dollars ($26,500.00); and,

Whereas, it is to the benefit of the citizens of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County that this grant be accepted;

Now, therefore, be it enacted by the Council of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County:

Section 1: That the grant contract between the State of Tennessee and The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County for the provision of services to victims of violent crimes by the Metropolitan Police Department (Grant Number Z99087568), from July 1, 1998 to June 30, 1999, a copy of which is attached hereto and incorporated herein, is hereby approved, and the Metropolitan Mayor is authorized to execute the same.

Section 2: That matching funds in the amount of twenty six thousand five hundred dollars ($26,500.00) be provided for the purpose of providing the Metropolitan Government’s matching share for the program.

Section 3: That amendments to the grant contract referenced herein shall be approved by resolution of the Metropolitan Council receiving twenty-one affirmative votes.

Section 4: That this Ordinance shall take effect from and after its passage, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
