ORDINANCE NO. O98-1398

An ordinance approving a drug control and systems improvement grant contract for the Metropolitan Sheriff’s Office (domestic/family violence intervention project) with the State of Tennessee, Department of Finance and Administration and providing matching funds in the amount of $11,312.00.

Whereas, the State of Tennessee, Department of Finance and Administration, has awarded a grant contract in an amount not to exceed thirty three thousand nine hundred thirty seven dollars ($33,937.00) for the drug control and drug control systems improvement Domestic/Family Violence Intervention Project by the Metropolitan Sheriff’s Office; and,

Whereas, the Metropolitan Government is required under said grant contract to provide matching funds in the amount of eleven thousand three hundred twelve dollars ($11,312.00); and,

Whereas, it is to the benefit of the citizens of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County that this grant be accepted;

Now, therefore, be it enacted by the Council of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County:

Section 1: That the grant contract between the State of Tennessee and The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County for the drug control and drug control systems improvement Domestic/Family Violence Intervention Project (Grant Number 98DG042) by the Metropolitan Sheriff’s Office, from July 1, 1998 to June 30, 1999, a copy of which is attached hereto and incorporated herein, is hereby approved, and the Metropolitan Mayor is authorized to execute the same.

Section 2: That matching funds in the amount of eleven thousand three hundred twelve dollars ($11,312.00) be provided for the purpose of providing the Metropolitan Government’s matching share for the program.

Section 3: That amendments to the grant contract referenced herein shall be approved by resolution of the Metropolitan Council receiving twenty-one affirmative votes.

Section 4: That this Ordinance shall take effect from and after its passage, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
