AN ORDINANCE APPROVING A GRANT FROM THE STATE OF TENNESSEE, OFFICE OF THE SECRETARY OF STATE, TO THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY, ACTING THROUGH THE NASHVILLE PUBLIC LIBRARY IN THE AMOUNT OF FIVE HUNDRED FORTY FOUR THOUSAND ONE HUNDRED AND SEVENTY FOUR DOLLARS ($544,174.00) FOR THE PERFORMANCE OF GENERAL LIBRARY SERVICES AND LIBRARY SERVICES FOR THE PHYSICALLY HANDICAPPED AND HEARING IMPAIRED.

WHEREAS, the State of Tennessee, Office of the Secretary of State, has awarded a Grant in an amount not to exceed Five Hundred Forty Four Thousand One Hundred and Seventy Four dollars ($544,174.00) to The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting through the Nashville Public Library for the performance of general library services and library services for the physically handicapped and hearing impaired in accordance with the Regional Library Long-Range Program and Annual Plan; and

WHEREAS, it is to the benefit of the citizens of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County that this grant be accepted.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ENACTED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

SECTION 1: That the grant by and between the State of Tennessee, Office of the Secretary of State, and The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting through the Nashville Public Library for the performance of general library services and library services for the physically handicapped and hearing impaired, in an amount not to exceed Five Hundred Forty Four Thousand One Hundred and Seventy Four dollars ($544,174.00), a copy of which is attached hereto and incorporated herein, is hereby approved, and the Metropolitan County Mayor is authorized to execute the same.

SECTION 2: That any amendments to this Grant shall be approved by resolution of the Metropolitan Council with twenty-one affirmative votes.

SECTION 3: That this Ordinance shall take effect from and after its passage, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
