ORDINANCE NO. O98-1291

AN ORDINANCE APPROVING A GRANT CONTRACT WITH THE STATE OF TENNESSEE, DEPARTMENT OF FINANCE AND ADMINISTRATION, OFFICE OF CRIMINAL JUSTICE PROGRAMS, FOR THE METROPOLITAN POLICE DEPARTMENT FOR THE PROVISION OF A STOP THE VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN GRANT PROJECT (CRISIS COUNSELOR, DOMESTIC VIOLENCE DIVISION, COUNSELING SECTION).

WHEREAS, the State of Tennessee, Department of Finance and Administration, Office of Criminal Justice Programs, has awarded a grant contract in an amount not to exceed forty eight thousand six hundred fifty four dollars ($48,654.00) for the Metropolitan Police Department for a STOP Violence Against Women grant project (Crisis Counselor, Domestic Violence Division, Counseling Section); and,

WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Government is required under said grant contract to provide a cash or in kind match of a minimum of sixteen thousand two hundred eighteen dollars ($16,218.00); and,

WHEREAS, it is to the benefit of the citizens of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County that this grant be accepted;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ENACTED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

SECTION 1: That the grant contract between the State of Tennessee, Department of Finance and Administration, Office of Criminal Justice Programs, and The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County for a STOP Violence Against Women grant project (Crisis Counselor, Domestic Violence Division, Counseling Section) (Grant Number 98DSL07), from July 1, 1998 to June 30, 1999, a copy of which is attached hereto and incorporated herein, is hereby approved, and the Metropolitan Mayor is authorized to execute the same.

SECTION 2: That an in kind local match will be provided in an amount equal to sixteen thousand two hundred eighteen dollars ($16,218.00).

SECTION 3: That amendments to the grant contract referenced herein shall be approved by resolution of the Metropolitan Council, by twenty-one affirmative votes.

SECTION 4: That this Ordinance shall take effect from and after its passage, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
