ORDINANCE NO. O98-1290

AN ORDINANCE APPROVING A GRANT CONTRACT WITH THE STATE OF TENNESSEE, DEPARTMENT OF FINANCE AND ADMINISTRATION, OFFICE OF CRIMINAL JUSTICE PROGRAMS, FOR THE METROPOLITAN POLICE DEPARTMENT FOR THE PROVISION OF A STOP THE VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN GRANT PROJECT (DOMESTIC VIOLENCE DIVISION).

WHEREAS, the State of Tennessee, Department of Finance and Administration, Office of Criminal Justice Programs, has awarded a grant contract in an amount not to exceed forty three thousand six hundred thirty two dollars ($43,632.00) for the Metropolitan Police Department for a STOP Violence Against Women grant project (Metropolitan Police Department, Domestic Violence Division); and,

WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Government is required under said grant contract to provide a cash or in kind match of a minimum of fourteen thousand five hundred forty four dollars ($14,544.00); and,

WHEREAS, it is to the benefit of the citizens of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County that this grant be accepted;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ENACTED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

SECTION 1: That the grant contract between the State of Tennessee, Department of Finance and Administration, Office of Criminal Justice Programs, and The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County for a STOP Violence Against Women grant project (Metropolitan Police Department, Domestic Violence Division) (Grant Number 98DSL06), from July 1, 1998 to June 30, 1999, a copy of which is attached hereto and incorporated herein, is hereby approved, and the Metropolitan Mayor is authorized to execute the same.

SECTION 2: That an in kind local match will be provided in an amount equal to fourteen thousand five hundred forty four dollars ($14,544.00).

SECTION 3: That amendments to the grant contract referenced herein shall be approved by resolution of the Metropolitan Council, by twenty-one affirmative votes.

SECTION 4:That this Ordinance shall take effect from and after its passage, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
