ORDINANCE NO. O98-1128
AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE CONVEYANCE OF CHURCH STREET PARK ON THE NORTH SIDE OF C14URCH STREET BETWEEN 6th AVENUE N. AND CAPITOL BLVD. TO THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY (Map 93-6-1, Parcels 12-15).
WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Development and Housing Agency owns certain properties, (Map 93-6-1, Parcels 12-15); and
WHEREAS, the subject property was purchased in accordance with the Capitol Mall Redevelopment Plan and specifically the Master Plan for the Church Street Corridor to abate a blighting condition and create open greenspace in downtown Nashville; and
WHEREAS, completion of the construction of the park improvements have been completed in cooperation with the Metropolitan Parks and Recreation Department; and
WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Parks and Recreation Department has agreed to accept the park; and
WHEREAS, the Director of Public Property Administration is authorized to cause certain property to be accepted by conveyance from the Metropolitan Development and Housing Agency, subject to the approval of the Metropolitan Council and Mayor.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:
Section 1. The Metropolitan Council approves the following land owned by the Metropolitan Development and Housing Agency to be accepted by the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, Tennessee: Map 93-6-1, Parcels 12-15, being more particularly described in Exhibit A, and attached hereto.
Section 2. The Director of Public Property Administration is hereby authorized to cause certain property to be conveyed from the Metropolitan Development and Housing Agency to the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, Tennessee, to be included and made a part of the Metropolitan Nashville and Davidson County Parks System, and to execute any documents related thereto.
Section 3. This Ordinance shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, Tennessee requiring it.
