Metropolitan Council Meeting
Tuesday, July 2, 2002


The Metropolitan Council met in regular session on this date at 7:00 p.m. in the Metropolitan Courthouse.

The invocation was offered by Councilmember Ron Nollner.

The Metropolitan Council gave the pledge of allegiance to the American Flag.

The Minutes of the regular meeting of June 18, 2002 adjourned meeting of June 20, 2002 were approved.


- ELECTIONS AND CONFIRMATIONS -

Employee Benefit Board

Reappointment of Mr. Russell White to the Employee Benefit Board for a term expiring June 30, 2005. The Rules-Confirmations-Public Elections Committee recommended the appointment and Ms. Williams moved for confirmation, which motion was seconded and adopted by a unanimous vote of the Council.

RESOLUTION NO. RS2002-1080

A resolution recognizing Bryan J. Lavender upon receiving the prestigious Eagle Scout Award.

RESOLUTION NO. RS2002-1081

A resolution recognizing William L. Pomeroy upon receiving the prestigious Eagle Scout Award.

RESOLUTION NO. RS2002-1082

A resolution recognizing Gayle Watson upon her retirement from service with the Metropolitan Public School System.

A resolution approving the election of certain notaries public for Davidson County. The resolution was approved by the Rules-Confirmations-Public Elections Committee with an amendment. Ms. Williams offered Amendment No. 1 and moved for its adoption, which motion was seconded and adopted by a voice vote of the Council. An ordinance to amend Title 17 of the Metropolitan Code of Laws, the Zoning Ordinance of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, by changing from AR2a District to RS7.5 District property at Moss Road (unnumbered), across from Winton Drive, (28.16 acres), all of which is more particularly described herein (Proposal No. 2002Z?016U?13). The bill was disapproved by the Planning Commission. Mr. Alexander requested a hearing from the public on this bill which had been previously advertised. The President asked if anyone desired to be heard for or against the bill, and citizens were heard in favor of and in opposition to passage of the bill. The President declared the public hearing closed. An ordinance to amend Title 17 of the Metropolitan Code of Laws, the Zoning Ordinance of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, by making applicable to property abutting the north margin of Springfield Highway and the east margin of Tinnin Road, classified within the R40 district and proposed for RM4 district, (6.26 acres), the provisions of a Planned Unit Development District, to develop 24 condominium units, (Proposal No. 2002P-002G-02). The bill was approved by the Planning Commission. Ms. Balthrop requested a hearing from the public on this bill which had been previously advertised.
